Isadore “Iz” White grew up in Seattle during the 90s, a city starkly divided between the rich and the poor. He learned to cope by obsessively writing, composing poetry on any napkin or notepad he could find, often disguising his poetry as "rap" to avoid ridicule from his peers. Iz grew up in a country that largely overlooked his existence as an Indigenous person.
Since 1996, he has written on park benches and at the back of buses, channeling the strength of his ancestors. Now, Iz is fully committed to his craft, sharing his poetry at open mics since 2021, leading to paid features and the development of his book manuscript. His live readings frequently draw audiences eager to buy a book that doesn’t yet exist. His poetry collection encompasses the very edge of edges of human existence and returns from dark places to express it in words.
36 poems, 231 pages, 3,042 Paragraphs, 20,672 words, $25.
“All Read” is a full-length poetry collection designed for live performances, where the lines between masterful rhyming patterns and human desperation blur. Each poem is structured to bear the weight of truth while captivating audiences. This collection is a proclamation from an enrolled Snoqualmie tribal member, a spaceship-fever-dream of self-inventory from an alcoholic, and an epiphany from someone who grew up homeless, catching buses just to stay warm. It encompasses everything I’ve run from and everything I forgot to say.

Welcome to Iz White Poetry Performances
Iz White is an enrolled member of the Snoqualmie Tribe and has been writing poetry since 1996. His work blends confessional elements with social justice themes and the rhythmic, lyrical qualities of rap. Growing up homeless in Seattle, Iz learned to thrive in the city’s diverse environment. Thanks to tribal economic growth, he now enjoys financial stability, allowing him to focus on advocacy.
He has attended the Hugo House monthly Works In-Progress open mic regularly since July 18th, 2022. He loves popping up at random open mics across the greater Seattle area. He has performed at the AWP | We the Indigenous: A Storytelling Celebration at Hugo House as a surprise speaker, Eastside Poets: RASP at Hugo House, Indigenous Americana: In Words, Song, and Multimedia at the Jackstraw Cultural Center, Jasmine Plaskon’s Georgetown Lit Crawl, 4Culture’s Poetry In Public: Drop In Poetry Event, the Hugo House 2024 Gala Special as a Works In Progress Open Mic Performer, Heartless Twyla’s Music For Weavers Poetry & Artist Talks and "Lovebomber" art show at Cloud Gallery. His greatest achievements are putting on his own community event highlighting Indigenous talent, Gravity From the Moon: A Night of Native Voices | A Hugo Literary Series & Snoqualmie Casino Partnership and helping write a proposal to his Snoqualmie Tribe’s Charitable Donation Application Process to acquire funding to start a new free literary series at Hugo House that will focus on marginalized groups.
Through his gritty storytelling, Iz White raises awareness, evokes empathy, and drives social change, humanizing homelessness while highlighting modern Indigenous identity. He is the change that he wants to see in the world.
